Do curses exist or are they the product of superstition and retrospect? Why does the evil in the world
seem to find the same ground time and time again? Why does the same land become the stage for
tragedy played out over time, taking different forms and effecting different people from varied walks
of life over centuries?
Can a place be born bad?
Some feel the curse on the paths traversing the woods. Most acknowledge a heavy presence of
spirits in the forest, even if they feel the ghosts might be positive and trying to pass on secrets of the
past. Others just know things feel different there. Barry, a local teen, tries to stay away from the forest
at night, even when his friends want to go. “Sometimes if you’re out in the forest at night you get a
real eerie feeling. Just a vibe. You don’t want to be there. You just want to turn around and get out.
Freetown was forged from a great sachem's drinking debt and signed off on by the man whose death sparked King Philip's War. Since before settlement, the town has been a place where calamity found a home. The history of this country is the history of Freetown, and much like history across the world, some of it is best left out of history books and civics classes.
