| Westwood- The Samuel Onion House on Clapboard Tree Street
Details of this report were found in the local Westwood paper on Oct. 31, 2002 The owner of the Bed and Breakfast, Sue Rogers, says there is a spirit there, probably that of an old female teacher who taught the "undesirables" of the time like women and people of different religions. There is also a secret room that most likely was used to hide escaped slaves in the Underground Railroad. The spirit or spirits mostly affect women, which points to the teacher who tried to make a difference in the lives of women. The hauntings first started when Ms. Rogers children started their teens and the noises in their rooms became so bad they could not stay in them any more. She makes her presence known by moving things, knocking and opening and closing doors, as well as chilling people with cool air as she passes. She is most active when there is immature behavior going on. She has also appeared or been heard by guests of the B&B. One time the spirits comforted Ms. Rogers children during an emotional time by whispering, "It's okay," to them. Wellesley Inn -Wellesley The land for the inn was first purchased in 1850 by the Dana Family who had already gain fame by that time. The core of the inn was built in 1860 building shifted hands for the next hundred years, becoming the Wellesley Tea Room in 1867 and continuing to expand. The current owners bought the building in 1960 and have expanded it even more, uniting several different buildings and restoring much of the original style. I have found no reports of anything before this restoration. Not there seems to be at least two different spirits in the inn. There are reports of objects being moved and of smelling rosewater perfume. The elevator will often shut down, or noises are heard coming from it. There is a feeling of being watched. The inn is very old, but has been renovated in recent years. I had my wedding there, and we went through three different banquet managers, the area that seems to have the most occurrences. I went in the basement to get what would be our centerpieces. I had an odd chill as I went down the stairs, even though I had no idea of the history of the building. While there I experienced cold spots and the feeling of being watched. |
